How VPN Works? Technical Explanation
VPN Working Principle
VPN creates an encrypted "tunnel" between your device and the VPN server. All data passing through this tunnel is encrypted, making it inaccessible to third parties.
Connection Process
- You launch the VPN client on your device
- The client establishes an encrypted connection with the VPN server
- Your internet traffic is redirected through the VPN server
- The server decrypts the data and sends it to the target website
- The response from the website passes back through the encrypted tunnel
VPN Protocols
There are several VPN protocols, each with its own features. Read more about VPN protocols in our guide:
- OpenVPN: Open protocol with high security. Learn more about OpenVPN.
- IKEv2/IPSec: Fast and stable protocol
- WireGuard: Modern protocol with high speed. Read more about WireGuard.
- L2TP/IPSec: Standard protocol with good compatibility
Data Encryption
VPN uses strong encryption (usually AES-256) to protect your data. This means that even if someone intercepts your traffic, they won't be able to read its contents without the encryption key. Learn more about VPN encryption.
